We create our rings to be durable and suitable for daily wear, but this doesn’t mean that you should wear your ring with abandon. At its core, your custom piece is an investment in fine jewelry that reflects artistry in design and craft. No matter the make of your ring, the materials used are malleable and should be worn with care.

We suggest removing your ring when working out. This includes lifting weights, grasping a barre, or other activities that can warp or compromise a prong.

Your ring is guaranteed for normal wear-and-tear, but if you fall off your bike or trip while running and damage your ring, substantial repairs might be needed and these aren’t covered by our normal wear-and-tear policy. Therefore, it’s a good idea to remove your ring if you’re doing these types of activities.

If you love to cook, craft, or do other activities that can get substances stuck on the ring, it’s best to remove it for these as well. It’s completely ok to get your ring dirty and we’re happy to clean it, but it won’t look its best if you’re constantly coating it with flour :)

Even when the size is the same between rings, each and every ring will fit and feel a little bit different. This means that even if you were professionally sized somewhere (or even with us), you may find that your ring needs some sizing adjustment to fit just right. Resizing an Alx&Co. ring is complementary for the first year of wear as long as we’re keeping the ring on the same finger, so don’t hesitate to reach out for this service.

Your ring should fit snug but not tight and generally should not rotate around your finger. It should not slide off of your finger incredibly easily - you should always feel some kind of resistance to removing it.

A full resizing isn’t always necessary for your ring. Sometimes, we might recommend adding interior bumps or waiting to see how the ring wears with a wedding band. The best thing to do, though, is to schedule an appointment with our team and we’ll help you determine the best path forward.

At home, you can keep your ring looking fresh and tidy by simply taking an old, soft-bristled toothbrush, dipping it in Windex, and gently scrubbing the head (especially underneath)*. Keep an eye on the gemstones and if anything even seems loose, book an appointment with us to check the ring - and stop wearing it in the meantime.

We recommend scheduling a professional clean and check with our team within about six weeks of receiving it so that we can ensure its fit and wear are correct. After that, we generally recommend scheduling a check up about once a year. Doing this will help you stay ahead of any loose stones, lifted prongs, or other issues that can develop as you wear the ring.
